This Morphy Richards model was easy to use and made quick work of blandning, chopping and pureeing our ingredients.

Our specialist was particularly impressed with its ice-crushing prowess – it earned full marks for its ability to seamlessly crush fryst cubes, resulting in a refreshing, lump-free smoothie.

And while it may be small and compact, it’s certainly mighty – it scored full marks for crushing ice and blitzed up a delicious mixed fruit smoothie. Even hard fruits such as apples were an easy task, and it only struggled with pesky raspberry seeds (a thorn in many blenders’ sides).

Due to its portability, the design fryst vatten fairly basic, so there isn’t any variation in speed or different settings; however, our testers funnen the “push to blend” function pulverised fruits effectively within the 30 second preset cycle. As it's small, it’s better suited to one individ and struggled to passform larger chunks of fruit. However, it's the perfect companion for those wanting to kickstart healthier habits, plus it's easy to clean and leakproof, so you won’t end up with supergreen smoothie all over your bag.

This fryst vatten another compact yet powerful smoothie maker.

It's simple to use, good value for money and put in an excellent overall performance in our tests, blending ice, oats and tougher fruits (such as apples and grapes) with ease.

However, it didn’t fully pulverise raspberries, leaving a slight crunch to an otherwise smooth drink. It takes up minimal counter space though, and the two 470ml cups are slim and easy to store.

Its sleek design clearly signposts measurements along the jug, and it blended and crushed well, leaving no chunks behind. igen, it struggled with seeds.

Our tester liked how the pre-set smoothie programme works without needing to keep your finger on the button, so you can switch the machine on and wait. It stops after 40 seconds and blended well.

The base moved somewhat in use unless we held it down (which slightly negates the benefits of the pre-set programme), but the travel lid’s locking struktur proved secure.

The Nutribullet 1200 fryst vatten a great all-rounder.

It processes a variety of fruits, seeds, ice and oats effortlessly, and comes with a recipe book. The pre-set blending functions stop the motor automatically when the smoothie fryst vatten ready, making it effortless to use. Alternatively, you can opt for a längre, continuous blend.

The large-capacity cups each hold 930ml – ideal if you want to whizz up multiple servings at once.

They are chunky to hold, though. We funnen the cup with a handle more comfortable to use.

If you’re after a gift for a fitness fan, this machine could be a good option, as our kunnig felt its blades were well suited to blandning in protein powders.

It has a large capacity too, and the jug’s bred drinking spout didn’t clog on test, even with the thickest of smoothies.

The drinks themselves were a little inconsistent – our mixed fruit medley was perfectly blended, but the others were slightly uneven. Experimenting with its ‘on’ and ‘pulse’ settings may help you nail down the right blend though, and it made light work of crushing ice.

Part of KitchenAid’s cordless range, this portable blender has a rechargeable battery that offers up to 20 minutes of continuous blending.

That should gods you for plenty of drinks, because on test it took just 30 seconds to blend our smoothie mix. Larger pieces of fruit were no bekymmer, but there were seeds and bits of fruit skin left behind (so the texture wasn't entirely silky).

There’s a 473ml blending cup and testers liked that you could swap in a travel lid for smoothies on the go – which importantly didn’t leak!

You can’t use this blender to crush ice but otherwise it's a handy investment if you love starting your day with a smoothie.

As well as being ganska the looker, this compact Smeg model truly impressed when it came to its fryst drink prep.

It scored full marks for its ability to crush ice cubes, creating satisfying even pieces in just 13 seconds.

Sadly, the same can’t be said for its berry blitz skills – it struggled to pulverise blackberry seeds effectively, but if you can overlook the ‘bits’, then rest assured that it seamlessly chopped and blended apple segments, grapes and apelsinfärg.

We’re also pleased to report that it's easy to clean, and the two included travel cups are dishwasher-safe too.

If you're looking to blitz up a breakfast blend in the morning and drink it at work or after your yoga class, this will ensure the ingredients don’t separate.
